abstract Selective culture medium for actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans. It comprises at least one nutritional base, preferably BHIA, vancomycin, format, fumarate and yeast extract. It does not include blood or serum. It is a low-cost culture medium, allows a high recovery of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans and is highly restrictive for the growth of contaminating microorganisms. It is applied for the detection of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans in samples of any origin, preferably in oral samples and for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients affected by periodontal or systemic diseases caused by Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans.
