titleOfInvention COPOLIMEROS POLI (ETILENTEREFTALATO-CO-ETILEN 5-NITRO-ISOFTALATO).
abstract Poly(ethyleneterephthalate-co-ethylene 5-nitro-isophthalate) copolymers. The polycondensation of bis(hydroxyethyl) terephthalate containing between 5 and 50% (mol/mol) of bis(hydroxyethyl) 5-nitro isophthalate at temperatures between 160 and 260°C under vacuum, and with titanium tetrabutoxide (TBT) catalyst ( 1% mol/mol), leads to random copolyesters with number average molecular weights between 4400 and 10500 and weight averages between 12100 and 28900, glass transition temperatures between 79 and 87°C, melting temperatures between 231 and 243°C and high thermal stability. The properties of these copolymers allow applications at higher temperatures than PET and more comfortable and economical processing at lower temperatures. Keywords: PET, PET copolymers, PET polycondensation, aromatic polyesters, poly(ethyleneterephthalate), poly(ethylenenisophthalate), nitrated PET.
