titleOfInvention PREPARATION PROCEDURE FOR AN ORBALLY ACTIVE CEFALOSPORINE ANTIBIOTIC, CEFIXIME.
abstract Procedure for preparing an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic, Cefixime. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of orally active cephalosporin antibiotic - Cefixime, of formula I in which, at room temperature and for 30 to 90 minutes, the ester of formula II is reacted in organic solvent with solution aqueous inorganic base in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst, allowing the resulting mixture to settle until the separation of the aqueous and organic phases, isolating the Cefixime from the required purity, by acidification and from the aqueous phase.
