abstract A CATALYST FOR ETHYLENE POLYMERIZATION IS PREPARED BY IMPREGNATING A POROUS SUPPORT, SUCH AS SILICON, WITH AN ORGANOMAGNESIC COMPOUND SUCH AS A DIALCHYLMAGNESIUM COMPOUND, CONTACTING THE SUPPORT OF SILGO-FREE COMPOSITE SUCH AS TETRAALCOXISILANES, FOR EXAMPLE TETRAETHYL ORTHOSILICATE, AND INCORPORATING A TRANSITIONAL METAL COMPONENT, SUCH AS TITANIUM TETRACHLORIDE, IN A SPECIFIC PROPORTION WITH REGARD TO MAGNESIUM AND SILANE COMPONENTS. THE ACTIVATION OF THIS CATALYST PRECURSOR WITH DIMETHYLALUMINUM CHLORIDE AS A CO-CATALYST RESULTS A CATALYST SYSTEM THAT IS EFFECTIVE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ETHYLENE COPOLYMERS WITH MULTIMODAL MOLECULAR WEIGHT DISTRIBUTIONS.
