abstract THE INVENTION REFERS TO A PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING AN INTERMEDIATE DMT PRODUCT AND ITS FURTHER PROCESSING UNTIL I OBTAIN HIGH PURITY DMT AND HIGH AND PURITY PURITY TEREFTALIC ACID. THE INTERMEDIATE DMT PRODUCT IS MANUFACTURED BY JOINT OXIDATION OF A MIXTURE CONTAINING PREVIOUSLY PARAMETHYLOL (P-X) AND METHYL ACID ESTER OF PARA-TOLUENE (P-TE) IN A LIQUID PHASE WITH GAS CONTAINING OXYGEN. THE ACIDS PRODUCED ARE ESTERIFIED WITH METHANOL, AND THE PRODUCTS OF ESTERIFICATION ARE SEPARATED IN A FRACTURE RICH IN P-TE, A FRACTION II THAT CONTAINS MORE THAN 99% BY WEIGHT OF DMT AND ITS ISOMERS AND A RESIDUAL FRACTION III WITH A POINT OF BOILING HIGH, AND THE FRACTION I OF P-TE RECYCLES TO OXIDATION. THE RESIDUAL FRACTION III HAS A DMT CONTENT BETWEEN 15 AND 70% BY WEIGHT AND THE DMT FRACTION I IS PURIFIED THROUGH THE RECRISTALIZATION OF THE SIMPLE SOLVENT IN METHANOL TO PRODUCE THE INTERMEDIATE PRODUCT OF DMT IN WHICH HYDROXYBENZOATE METHYL -BME) AND METHYL ELTEREFTALATO (TAE) TOGETHER TOTAL LESS THAN 200 PPM. THE POST PROCESSING OF THE INTERMEDIATE PRODUCT FROM DMT TO ULTRA PURE DMT IS CARRIED OUT THROUGH A SECOND RECRISTALATION, THE POST PROCESSING OF TEREFTALIC ACID WASHING THE INTERMEDIATE PRODUCT OF DMT IN METHANOL, HYDROLYSIS, POSSIBLE AGE, NORMALLY NECESSARY.
