abstract AN ELECTRO-DEPOSITABLE CATIONIC COMPOSITION IS DISCOVERED CONTAINING A SCATTERED PHASE OF RESIN IN AN AQUEOUS MEDIUM. THE RESIN PHASE HAS GROUPS BASED ON NITROGEN WHICH ARE AT LEAST PARTIALLY NEUTRALIZED WITH OR DERIVED FROM SULPHAMIC ACID, THAT IS, AN ACID FROM THE FORMULA: WHERE R IS H OR C1 TO C4 ALKYL. THE COMPOSITIONS ARE IN THE FORM OF AQUEOUS DISPERSIONS OF RELATIVELY SMALL PARTICLE SIZE, AND WHEN USED IN THE PROCESS OF CATIONIC ELECTRO-DEPOSITION, ALLOWS THE FORMATION OF THIN FILMS WITH GREAT PULLING POWER. ALSO, THE USE OF SULPHAMIC ACID INACTIVATES THE ANODE.
