abstract BETA ACRYLIC ALCOHOLS OF GENERAL FORMULA (I) IN WHICH THE REMAINS R1, R2 AND R3, EQUAL OR DIFFERENT, REPRESENT HYDROGEN, ALKYL C1-C20, CYCLLOALKYL C5-C7, ARYL, ARYALKYL C7-C12-ALKYL IT IS 0, 1, 2, 3 OR 4, OR IN WHICH TWO R1 REMAINS CONTAINING CONFIGURE A RING OF 5 OR 6 MEMBERS. SUCH ALCOHOLS ARE OBTAINED BY REACTION OF AN AROMATIC COMPOUND OF FORMULA (II) WITH AN ALKYLENE OXIDE OF FORMULA (III), HAVING R1, R2 AND R3 THE MEANING INDICATED ABOVE, IN THE PRESENCE OF FRIEDEL-CATALYSTS. THE REACTION IS CARRIED OUT IN THE PRESENCE OF A TITANIUM ALCOHOLATE (IV) AT TEMPERATURES OF -20 TO 40 DEGREES C IN THE PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF A SOLVENT.
