GLASS MICROBEADS WITH BACTERIOSTATIC PROPERTIES AND PROCEDURE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF THE SAME. GLASS MICROBEADS ARE COATED WITH PROTEINS THAT ARE COVALENTLY LINKED TO THE GLASS AND GIVE BACTERIOSTATIC PROPERTIES TO THE PEARLS. THE PROTEIN COATING MAY INCLUDE A TOP SUCH AS LACTOPEROXIDASE AND LACTOPHERRIN, AND MAY BE LINKED TO THE GLASS USING A SILANE-TYPE COUPLING AGENT. THESE MICROBEADS ARE USEFUL IN FLUIDIZED LIQUID STRUCTURES FOR HOSPITALS, FOR EXAMPLE FOR THE TREATMENT OF BURN PATIENTS. |
