abstract THE PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF ACILOXYBENZENOSULPHONIC ACIDS OF GENERAL FORMULA **** FORMULA-DRAWING **** IN WHICH R HAS THE MEANING OF A RADICAL ALKYL (C1-C17) OR ALKENYL (C2-C17), OR OF THEIR SALTS OF ALKALINE METALS, ALKALINE EARTH METALS OR AMMONIUM, IS CARRIED OUT IN THE FOLLOWING STAGES: A) PHENOL SULPHONATION; B) THERMAL TREATMENT OF THE RESULTING PHENOLSULPHONIC ACID AS AN INTERMEDIATE PRODUCT; C) ESTERIFICATION OF PHENOLSULPHONIC ACID; AND EVENTUALLY D) NEUTRALIZATION OF THE RESULTING ACIL- (C2-C18) -OXYBENZENOSULPHONIC ACID. THROUGH THE INSERTION OF STAGE (B), THE PROCEDURE LEADS TO PRODUCTS IN WHICH THE PROPORTION OF ISOMER 1.4 HAS BEEN CLEARLY INCREASED COMPARED TO ISOMER 1.2, WITH WHICH THEY CAN FIND USE ESPECIALLY AS PERBORATE ACTIVATORS IN WASHING AGENTS OR DETERGENTS.
