abstract | Process for the preparation of a luminescent substance to be used in a discharge tube as specified in Patent No. 163,724 characterized by the fact that a mixture of silicon oxide titanium oxide and one or more of the calcium oxides strontium cadmium sodium or lithium and possibly magnesium or a mixture of substances that can liberate these oxides by heating, is heated for a few hours in a non-reducing atmosphere, this form of preparation also being able to present the following characteristics, taken separately or in combination: a). - The mixture is heated in an oxidizing atmosphere, for example in air or in oxygen at a temperature slightly lower than that of the lower eutectic of the oxide system used. b) .- Silicon oxide is obtained starting from ethyl silicate ether dissolved in alcohol. |
