titleOfInvention Device for determining the base number in lubricating oils
abstract 1. Device for the determination of the base number (TBN) in used lubricating oils, characterized by a reactor vessel (1) in which two separate cavities have been formed for the oil and reagent housing. 2. Device for determining the base number (TBN) in used lubricating oils, according to the preceding claim, characterized in that a cavity for housing the reagent (4) is of greater capacity than the cavity for housing the lubricating oil (3), so that the reagent is in excess in the reaction. 3. Device for determining the base number (TBN) in used lubricating oils, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that a cavity (5) is formed between the reactor itself and the closing lid, where the reagents are mixed and the gas product of the reaction. 4. Device for determining the base number (TBN) in used lubricating oils, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that it is made of chemically stable plastic material, such as PVC, HDPE, PET, PE and PP. 5. Device for determining the base number (TBN) in used lubricating oils, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that a rubber O-ring (8) is placed between the reactor and the closing lid (2) that prevents leakage of gases 6. Device for determining the base number (TBN) in used lubricating oils, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that a connected pressure gauge (7) is housed in the upper part of the reactor cover, by means of a threaded hole (6), to the gas chamber to measure the pressure. 7. Device for determining the base number (TBN) in used lubricating oils, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that the reagent used is a mixture of different reagents, one of them acidic which have a low vapor pressure.
