Process for the production of formic acid using e. coli strains |
abstract |
The present patent application discloses a process where production of formic acid is made with the use of microorganism ( Escherichia coli ) that is capable to convert simple sugar into formic acid. Another asset is the improvement of formic acid production in the presence of furan compounds. The method comprises the use of mineral media/lignocellulosic hydrolysates with pentoses and/or hexoses as carbon source and is proved that formic acid is obtained. In the presence of 5-hydroxy-methyl furfural (HMF) an increment of 21-86 % is observed. |
