This invention is related to a novel method for the production of urea-formaldehyde resins, comprising a methylolation step and a condensation step at acid pH values, as well as a final urea addition step; the invention also refers to the resins obtained by said method, which are useful in the manufacture of several materials, for example of wood composite boards, such as wood derived boards, fibreboards, natural and/or synthetic, woven or non-woven fibre mats for compression molding and the resulting composites, particleboards, chip boards, oriented strand boards, plywood and paperboards, but also of fibreglass or rock wool insulations. Such materials are also within the scope of the invention. |
