abstract A system configured for material analysis and mineralogy is disclosed. The system comprises a scanning microscope system. The scanning microscope system comprises a first detector and a second detector. The system further comprises a data-processing system. The data-processing system comprises a data-storage component and a segmentation component. The data-storage component is configured for providing at least one image of a sample based on first emissions from a plurality of first scan locations. The segmentation component is configured for determining at least one or a plurality of second scan locations for at least one or a plurality of region(s) of the at least one image. The second detector is configured for detecting second emissions from at least one of the second scan locations of at least one of the regions. The system is further configured for determining the second scan location(s) for the region(s) and detecting the second emissions from the at least one of the second scan locations of the at least one of the regions in parallel. Also, a method for determining properties of a sample is disclosed. The method comprises performing an image providing step. The image providing step comprises providing at least one image of a sample based on first emissions from a plurality of first scan locations. The method further comprises a segmentation step. The segmentation step comprises determining at least one or a plurality of second scan location(s) for at least one or a plurality of region(s) of the at least one image. The method also comprises a detection step. The detection step comprises detecting second emissions from at least one of the second scan locations of at least one of the regions. The method also comprises performing the segmentation step and the detection step in parallel. Further, a computer program product comprising instructions which, when the program is executed by a computer, cause the computer to carry out the steps of the method, is disclosed.
