abstract | A process for producing a thermoplastic polyoxazolidinone comprising copolymerizing a diisocyanate compound with a bisepoxide compound in the presence of a catalyst, in a solvent, wherein the solvent is characterized by a cohesive energy density δ 2 , the cohesive energy density δ 2 being the sum of a component δ D 2 , δ D 2 being characteristic of dispersion forces between molecules of the solvent, a component δ P 2 , δ P 2 being characteristic of dipolar intermolecular forces between molecules of the solvent, and a component δH 2 , δH 2 being characteristic of hydrogen bond forces between molecules of the solvent with: δ 2 = δ D 2 + δ P 2 + δ H 2 ; wherein at 25 °C δ D has a value of 18.0 MPa 0.5 to 20.0 MPa 0,5 , δ P has a value of 8.0 MPa 0,5 to 15.0 MPa 0,5 , and δ H has a value of 2.5 MPa 0,5 to 9.0 MPa 0,5 . The invention is also related to the resulting thermoplastic polyoxazolidinone. |
