The invention relates to a method of extending telomeres in vitro or ex vivo, comprising the step of: administering a compound comprising a synthetic ribonucleic acid comprising at least one modified nucleoside and coding for a telomerase reverse transcriptase to an animal cell in vitro or ex vivo; wherein telomerase reverse transcriptase is expressed transiently in the cell; wherein at least one telomere is extended within the cell; and wherein the at last one modified nucleoside comprised in the synthetic ribonucleic acid confers reduced immunogenicity to the synthetic ribonucleic acid. |
