abstract |
An electrically deformable material with a reduced driving voltage, and applications thereof are provided. An optical device is fabricated by providing an electrically deformable material between a first electrode and a second electrode. By adding to a gelatinous polymer material an ionic liquid having a negative ion transport number of 0.4 or greater at 25°C or an ionic surfactant having a negative ion transport number of 0.2 or greater at 25°C, the electrically deformable material is prepared. In this optical device, the voltage level to drive the electrically deformable material is reduced, and a light scatterer is formed on the surface of the first electrode or the second electrode by applying the reduced voltage. |
