Catechol metal complex compounds of formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 independently of one another represent a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted with at least one radical selected from hydroxyl, (C1-C4)-alkoxy, (C1-C4)-alkoxy(CH2CH20)n-, -NR R" or -N+R'R"R"' X-, wherein n = 1 to 10, R', R" and R''' independently of one another represent H or a linear or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 3, preferably 1 to 2, carbon atoms and X- represents an anion, Z1 and Z2 independently of one another represent OH or O", M represents a metal cation of a transition metal or lanthanoid (especially a metal cation selected from Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ce or Sm), q as the charge number of the metal cation M represents a number 2, 3 or 4, p as the charge number of the catechol ligand represents a number 0, 1 or 2, r represents a number 1, 2, 3 or 4, are colored and may be used for coloring of surfactant compositions. Laundry detergents containing these catechol metal complex compounds do not lead to textile coloring even after repeated use. |
