A personal protection and ventilation system (100) is provided. The system (100) includes a gown (101, 160) having front (158) and rear panels (120), a hood (178), and visor (178, 180); a fan (182); an air tube (184); and a helmet (190). The fan (182) is positioned between the wearer and a body-facing surface of the rear panel (120, 122). The front panel (102) and at least a portion (256, 258) of the hood (178) are formed from a first material (200, 256, 300) including a first spunbond layer (146A, 146C, 148, 152), a spunbond-meltblown- spunbond laminate, and a liquid impervious elastic film (144) disposed therebetween. The first material (200, 256, 300) has an air volumetric flow rate of less than about 1 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm). The rear panel (120, 122) is formed from a second material (200, 256, 300) including a nonwoven laminate having an air volumetric flow rate of about 20 scfm to about 80 scfm. Therefore the fan (182) is able to intake a sufficient amount of air from the environment through the rear panel (120, 122) to provide cooling/ ventilation to the hood (178).. |
