abstract | A smoking substitute apparatus (150) comprises: a housing having a longitudinal axis; an air inlet (176) and an air outlet (174) formed at the housing; a vaporisation chamber (180) having a vaporisation chamber inlet (172) and a heater (164). The air inlet and the air outlet are in fluid communication with each other through an air flow channel extending between the air inlet and the air outlet. The air flow channel passes through the vaporisation chamber inlet and the vaporisation chamber. The heater extends across the air flow channel. The vaporisation chamber inlet is configured to receive air flow from a substantially radial direction and to change a direction of air flow to an axial direction into the vaporisation chamber. The vaporisation chamber inlet is configured to reduce a rate of change of air flow direction from the substantially radial direction to the axial direction. The housing comprises a radially-extending wall (501) and the vaporisation chamber inlet comprises an axial aperture (620) through the wall. At least part of a perimeter of an upstream edge of the axial aperture is filleted to provide the reduced rate of change of air flow direction. |
