Provided is a deep eutectic solvent comprising N,N,N-trimethylglycine and trifluoroacetamide. The deep eutectic solvent is useful for fixing biological samples, for example to stabilise a cell's native morphology. The deep eutectic solvent is also useful for inhibiting the degradation of biomolecules such as RNA, DNA and proteins. |
