Volume-filling leads for treatment of cancer with electric fields |
abstract |
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to medical devices comprising volume fill yarns and methods of use for treating cancerous tumors within a body tissue. In one embodiment, the invention relates to a thread for a cancer treatment system. The wire may include a wire body having a proximal end and a distal end, the wire body being able to define a lumen. The wire may include an expandable wire head connected to the distal end of the wire body, the wire head being configurable to be extended between a first non-deployed position and a second deployed position to fill an intracorporeal vacuum. The wire may include two or more electrodes disposed on an outer surface of the wire head and at least two electrical conductors configured to provide electrical communication between the two or more electrodes and the proximal end of the wire body. Other embodiments are also included here. |
