The invention relates to coating compositions, coated articles comprising said coating compositions, and methods for preparing the coating compositions and coated articles. In some aspects, the coating compositions are applied to a substrate having nitric oxide release properties. The coating compositions can include copolymers comprising crosslinking agents that can be activated by mild UV light (about 345 to 365 nm) to avoid damage to the substrate during the creation of strong covalent bonds to the substrate. The copolymers may comprise hydrophilic repeating units, and especially zwitterionic repeating units such as repeating units containing phosphorylcholine groups. In some aspects, the coating compositions are applied to a surface of a polymeric substrate, which polymeric substrate has nitric oxide release properties. The coating compositions and the coated articles may have antifouling, antithrombotic and / or antibacterial properties. |
