The present invention relates to the silk fabric which is known and renowned for its touch. The disadvantage of silk, however, is its price, its low washing capacity and low resistance against certain chemical treatments. Therefore, the object of the invention is to provide a silk woven fabric that overcomes these problems. According to the invention, this problem is solved by providing a silk woven fabric (2) consisting of weft threads (4) and warp threads (6), at least one of the weft threads (4) and warp threads (6) containing or consisting of lyocellular filaments (8). In particular, twisted lyocellular filament yarns are used, the resulting material has a feel comparable to that of silk and physical properties that are equal to or even superior to those of silk. In addition, the lyocellular filament yarns (4, 6) may have a greater twist than the silk yarns, other yarns of cellulose or synthetic yarns. |
