The invention relates to compositions comprising at least two diblock copolypeptides, each copolypeptide having an ionic segment whose charge is opposite to that of the other. The copolypeptides form beta-sheet-structured hydrogel assemblies by complexing polyions when mixed in aqueous media. Because of their unique physical properties, hydrogels can be used as media for cell suspensions or cell cultures, in drug or cell delivery systems, in matrices for tissue repair, or as printable carriers for 3D. |
