The present invention relates to stemospironine salts of Formula 1: wherein HX is HCl, HBr, L-tartaric acid, D-tartaric acid, sulfuric acid, (+) - (1S) -10 acid amphetulfonic acid, ethanesulfonic acid and ethane-1,2-disulfonic acid. The invention also provides crystalline polymorphic forms of the compound of Formula 1 wherein HX is HCl, stemospironine hydrochloride. This invention also provides a novel crystalline form of the compound of Formula 2, the stemospironine free base: the present invention also relates to compositions containing one or more compounds of Formula 1, methods of regulating cough comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of Formula 1, and processes for preparing compounds of Formula 1. The present invention also relates to a process for the preparation of polymorph II form of crystalline stemospironine hydrochloride from the polymorphic form I of the hydrochloride stemospironine. |
