Systems and methods for closing incisions formed in fragile tissue |
abstract |
A fragile subcutaneous tissue reinforcing method of providing an absorbable surgical mesh having upper and lower major surfaces, the absorbable surgical mesh comprising a stitch zone and first and second reinforcement zones that connect opposite sides of the seam area. The method includes making an incision in the skin of a patient to expose fragile subcutaneous tissue, using one or more absorbable adhesives to adhere the lower main surface of the absorbable surgical mesh to the fragile subcutaneous tissue, to creating an incision through the seam area of the absorbable surgical mesh and into the fragile subcutaneous tissue, performing a surgical procedure through the incision, and passing an absorbable suture through the seam area of the absorbable surgical mesh and by the fragile tissue to close the incision. |
