According to the invention, dextran sulfate, or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof, is used to induce the differentiation of glial cells and neurons. The induction of cellular differentiation of dextran sulfate has positive effects in subjects suffering from neurological diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases, demyelinating diseases, neuroischemic diseases and neuromuscular diseases. |
