Method for separating and recovering lignin and meltable flowable biolignin polymers |
abstract |
The invention relates to a process for recovering lignin from biomass or by-products of a biomass treatment through the use of organic solvents and water with modification of lignin form or composition. During the separation and recovery process, lignin can be modified or integrated in a form that is more suitable for the intended use for it. When the lignin is in suspension or is soluble in the organic solvent, materials or reagents can be mixed or dispersed more easily in the lignin to improve performance, quality and overall production efficiency. |
