Process for producing optical molding materials |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for producing moldable materials with optical properties based on methyl methacrylate (MMA), this MMA having been produced by an optimized method and said moldable materials characterized in particular by a very low yellowness index. The MMA used according to the invention was produced by direct oxidative esterification of methacrolein. In particular, the present invention relates to an optimized post-reaction treatment of the product of the oxidative esterification of methacrolein at the outlet of the reactor, treatment by which particularly dye by-products are removed. In addition, the advantage of this method is that there are fewer requirements as to the configuration of apparatus of the installation compared to what is described in the state of the art. |
