titleOfInvention | Electrochemical detection of bacterial and/or fungal infections |
abstract | The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for amplifying a plurality of targets in a single PCR and distinguishing clinically relevant amplification from amplification from other sources such as background contamination. The methods and devices further discriminate Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and fungal infections and identify antimicrobial resistant genes. When the methods and devices according to the invention are applied, the species or the kind of infection (s), and the kind of fungal co-infection (s) or the category of bacterial co-infection (s) (s) (Gram-positive or negative) are identified. Species identification in the case of co-infections can also be obtained. In addition, when the methods and devices of the invention are applied, organisms that may be contaminating organisms are identified from a blood sample. |
