The present invention relates to compositions and methods of using the same to inhibit or reduce the incidence of cytokine release syndrome or cytokine storm in subjects treated with chimeric antigen receptor T lymphocyte therapy (lymphocytes). T CAR), cancer or tumor treatment methods, methods for reducing tumor burden, methods for reducing the size or growth rate of a cancer or tumor, and methods of extending the survival of a subject suffering from a cancer or tumor, the subjects receiving compositions comprising apoptotic cells or apoptotic cell supernatants. The compositions and methods of use thereof can increase the effectiveness of a CAR T cell cancer therapy. The invention also provides compositions and methods of using the same to decrease or inhibit cytokine production in a subject having a cytokine release syndrome or a cytokine storm. In some embodiments, the compositions may include additional chemotherapeutic or immunomodulatory agents. |
