The invention relates to an electronic nose detection system capable of detecting and identifying a set of compounds that may be present in a gas sample, which detection system comprises a plurality of detection sensors (D1, D2, Cross-reactive D3, D4, D5, D6, D7) to provide signals representative of the presence of one or more compounds of said set in the gaseous sample, and is characterized in that it further comprises at least one reference sensor (RI) for providing a signal representative of the measurement noise of the detection system.
