abstract The invention relates to a device (1) for delivering electrical pulses to a desired tissue of a mammal. The device includes a pulse generating device (100) and an electrode device (200, 500, 600) connected to the pulse generating device. The pulse generating device is configured to determine conductance and phase angle values between an electrode (200-1, 501, 601) and a reference electrode (205; 502, 503; 602-605) of electrode device when the electrode device is inserted into the desired tissue and when pulses based on alternating currents having different frequencies are generated between the electrode and the reference electrode. Based on the determined conductance and phase angle values, the pulse generating device is configured to determine the type of tissue that the electrode device enters, to determine one or more electrical pulse parameters to be determined. delivered to the desired tissue and to generate the electrical pulses having the determined parameter (s).
