titleOfInvention | Chimeric pattern recognition receptor kinases |
abstract | The present invention pertains to novel artificially designed plant receptors for mediating defense reactions. The present invention provides chimeric pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) which are composed of the ectodomain sequences of leucine rich repeat receptor like protein (LRR-RLP) which lacks a functional intracellular signalling domain, and a transmembrane and/or cytoplasmatic domain of a receptor like kinase (RLK) that functions as PRR. The chimeric receptors of the invention can be used to transform plant cells or plants in order to supplement and enhance the defense capabilities in strength and/or diversity in the transformed plant or plant cell. Hence, the present invention pertains to such chimeric PRR proteins, their encoding nucleic acids, methods for their construction, as well as their various uses in agriculture or other plant-based businesses. |
