The invention relates to a catalyst for use in the hydrotreatment of hydrocarbon feedstocks and processes for producing the catalyst. Specifically, the invention relates to a catalyst comprising at least one Group VIB metal component, at least one Group VIII metal component, an organic additive producing a C content of the final catalysts of about 1 to about 30% by weight of C and preferably from about 1 to about 20% by weight of C, and more preferably from about 5 to about 15% by weight of C and a titanium-containing driving component, the amount of the titanium component being in the range of about 3 to about 60% by weight, in the form of oxide (TiO2) and based on the total weight of the catalyst. The titanium-containing trainer is formed by coextruding or precipitating a source of titanium with an AI2O3 precursor to form a porous carrier material comprising primarily Al2O3 or by impregnating a source of titanium onto a porous carrier material comprising primarily AI2O3. Particular preference is given to alumina and alumina containing up to 1% by weight of silica at most, preferably not more than 0.5% by weight based on the total weight of the carrier (dry basis) . |
