titleOfInvention | Microrna-455-3p as a peripheral biomarker for alzheimer's disease |
abstract | The present invention includes a method of identifying a patient suffering from Alzheimer's disease (AD) prior to attaining a clinical classification of the disease, comprising: obtaining a data set associated with a blood sample patient's serum or plasma, the data set comprising data representing the level of one or more microRNA biomarkers in the blood, serum or plasma sample; Evaluating the dataset for the presence or increase of miRNA-455-3p; to determine the likelihood of the patient developing AD before clinically classifying the disease by detecting the presence or increase of miRNA-455-3 p to produce a score indicative of a probability of developing the AD, a score higher than that of a healthy control indicating that the patient is likely to present the prognosis of a transition to a classified AD, the healthy control being derived from a patient not suffering from AD and not presenting clinical evidence of AD. |
