A tread rubber composition and a pneumatic tire having excellent grip performance under a low load and excellent grip performance under a high load are provided.The tread rubber composition contains a high-styrene-content styrene-butadiene rubber having a styrene content not less than 35.0% by mass and a vinyl content of 10 to 45% by mass, and large-particle-diameter carbon black having an average particle diameter not less than 20 nm, and M300 at a temperature of 25°C and E* at a temperature of 25°C and a dynamic strain of 0.25% of the tread rubber composition satisfy the following formula.M300/E*>0.50 |
