Use of vaginal lactobacilli for improving the success rate of in vitro fertilization |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for improving the success rate of in vitro fertilization in women harboring an abnormal vaginal microbiota. The method comprises the steps of: (i) selecting a woman suspected of harboring an abnormal vaginal microbiota (AVM); (ii) administering to this woman an appropriate antibiotic, administered in a quantity and duration effective to reduce the amount of abnormal vaginal microbiota harbored by the woman; (iii) vaginally administering to the female a quantity of Lactobacillus species which corresponds to an amount sufficient to colonize the vaginal mucosa; and (iv) to transfer an embryo to the woman. |
