The present invention relates to a process for removing actinium from process liquors comprising ions of interest (which may be, for example, rare earth ions) and actinium ions. In this process, a low solubility metal sulfate salt is precipitated in a solution comprising ions of interest and actinium ions. The actinium ions become associated with the precipitate, which leads to their removal from the solution. The process selectively removes actinium from the solution, i.e. without the concomitant removal of significant amounts of the ions of interest present in the solution. |
