The invention provides a composite material for use in the manufacture of a shaped article, the composite material having thermoplastic properties and comprising at least 40% organic fibers including cellulose, hemicellulose and/or lignin, and up to 40% plastic, the composite material being further characterized by one or more of the following: having tensile strength of above about 4 MPa, having flexural modulus above about 800 MPa, and having a notched Izod impact above about 12 J/m. |
