abstract |
The present invention pertains to an in vitro method for obtaining human retinal progenitors, comprising the steps of (i) placing an adherent culture of human pluripotent stem cells into a stem-cell- specific pro-neural medium, said culture being devoid of feeder cells; and (ii) maintaining this culture in said stem-cell-specific pro-neural medium until the appearance of pigmented cells and/or of neuroepithelial-like structures. Advantageously, additional steps can be performed to obtain RPE cells and/or precursors of the neural retina. |
