abstract |
A cosmetic composition and its use in the treatment of skin conditions, such as acne vulgaris. The composition may selectively remove free fatty acids (FFAs) from a subject's skin n The composition comprises 2 to 60wt% clay; 20 to 96wt% water; and 2 to 60wt% preservative. No more than 1% carboxylic acid compounds are present and the ratio of clay to carboxylic acid compounds is at least 90wt% clay: no more than 10wt% carboxylic acid compounds. n The clay may be a 2:1 clay such as montmorillonite. n The preservative may be an alcohol such as ethanol. |
