abstract The invention relates to an isolated bacterial strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa species, referred to as Pseudomonas aeruginosa CSMY-1, deposited in the Microbial Genetic Resources Bank of the Chilean Collection of Microbial Genetic Resources (CChRGM), under accession number RGM2262, on August 7, 2015, which is a facultative strain that can remove chemical components having characteristics that pollute natural or industrial effluents or soils by degrading compounds. The invention also relates to a method for the pollutant bioremediation of a contaminated environments, comprising: a) adding bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa CSMY-1 in the form of a biofilm to said contaminated environment; and b) incubating said bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa CSMY-1 in the form of a biofilm in said environment.
