abstract The invention relates to a device (1) for applying a product to be dispensed on a skin of a user by iontophoresis, comprising: at least one means (84) for storing the product to be dispensed; at least one dispensing cavity (92) able to receive the product to be dispensed; at least one first iontophoresis electrode (17); an electronic control circuit; and means for measuring a physical or physico-chemical parameter, said means being connected to the electronic control circuit and configured to send a signal (E1) indicative of a parameter measurement. According to the invention, the first iontophoresis electrode (17) and the measuring means are installed in the dispensing cavity, the electronic control circuit being configured to compare the value of the physical or physico-chemical parameter measured in the cavity to a reference threshold value so as to detect if the product is absent from the cavity.
