The invention relates to a novel method for identifying a metabolite that is suited to be used in diagnostics of a liver disease or of a severity of a liver disease. The following metabolites have been identified as suited biomarkers by this method: carbonyl sulfide, dimethylsilane, acetic acid, propanol, cysteine, S-methyl thioacrylate, bis-(methylthio)methane, 3-mercaptopropane-,2-diol, ethenamine, n-butylamine, serine, trimethylamine, ornithine, cinnamaldehyde, glutamine, diallyl disulfide, glutamic acid, selenocystein, hydrogen cyanide, methionine, 2- mercaptoindole, dimethyl sulfoxide, benzene, and 2-mercaptoethanol. |
