titleOfInvention Compressible fibrous electret structure and electrostatic transducer for kinetic energy harvesting
abstract The present invention relates to a compressible porous fibrous electret film, for use as an electrical film in an electrostatic transducer. Said compressible porous fibrous electret film comprises: n- a layer of tangled micro/nanofibers , n- said layer of tangled micro/nanofibers being coated with a dielectric conformal coating , n- said conformal coating conforming the shape of the tangled micro/nanofibers, said coating being adapted to store electrical charges and to be permanently charged with a quantity of electrical charges, whereby the dielectric conformal coating increases the quantity of electrical charges of the electret film by increasing a storage's surface of the electrical charges and the coated tangled micro/nanofibers define pores within the film. n Upon applying a mechanical force (such as by shearing, compressing, and/or stretching) on the electrostatic transducer, electricity is generated. The electrostatic transducer of the invention is thus useful for harvesting kinetic energy or mechanical sensing.
