abstract | The present application relates to an oil and gas treatment composition comprising (i) a blend of hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) and crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone, (ii) an aqueous based continuous phase, (iii) a reactive clay or shale material, and (iv) at least one drilling fluid additive. The present application also relates to a method for inhibiting hydration of clays or shale materials in drilling a subterranean well using the composition. A different embodiment of the application discloses that the composition additionally comprises organophilic clay, a stabilizer and white medicinal oil. |
