titleOfInvention | Method for determining herpes b virus and assay system therefore |
abstract | In a first aspect, the present invention relates to a method for determining the presence of herpes B virus, or for determining the status of herpes B virus infection in primates based on detection of antibodies against herpes B virus. In particular, the present invention relates to a method wherein at least two different peptides of short amino acid sequences with 4 to 40 amino acid residues present in the herpes B virus glycoproteins B, C, D, G, H and/or L are detected representing target regions of antibodies being specific against herpes B virus allowing determination of the presence of herpes B virus or determining the status of the herpes B virus infection in primates based on the presence and/or amount of the antibodies accordingly. In a further aspect, the present invention relates to an assay system for determining the presence of herpes B virus comprising at least said two different peptides derived from the herpes B virus glycoproteins B, C, D, G, H and/or L representing target regions of antibodies being specific against herpes B virus as well as means for determining the presence of said antibodies binding specifically to said peptides. Finally, the present invention relates to the use of at least two peptides comprising short amino acid sequences with 4 to 40 amino acids containing at least two different epitopes derived from herpes B glycoproteins B, C, D, G, H and/or L for determining the presence of herpes B virus or for determining the status of herpes B virus infection in primates. |
