abstract | Process for preparing a diesel fuel composition comprising the steps of: n(i) providing a first diesel base fuel, wherein the first diesel base fuel comprises a first cetane improver and wherein the first diesel base fuel has a cetane number C 1 ; n(ii) providing a second diesel base fuel, wherein the second diesel base fuel optionally comprises a second cetane improver and wherein the second diesel base fuel has a cetane number C 2 ; nwherein the first cetane improver provides a cetane number increase to the first diesel base fuel of ΔC 1 and wherein the second cetane improver provides a cetane number increase to the second diesel base fuel of ΔC 2 and wherein ΔC 1 > ΔC 2 ; and n(iii) blending the first diesel base fuel with the second diesel base fuel in a volume ratio of V 1 :V 2 to produce a diesel fuel composition having a cetane number C final wherein C final > (V 1 C 1 + V 2 C 2 )/(V1+V 2 ). |
